Overview:The purpose of this award is to provide individuals with an opportunity to develop and/or enhance their knowledge and skills in the inspection and testing of single and three-phase low voltage electrical installations.  This qualification focuses on equipping individuals with the necessary expertise to carry out inspections and tests on electrical installations, ensuring they meet the required safety standards and regulations. By undertaking this award, individuals can expand their understanding of the inspection and testing processes involved in single and three-phase electrical installations. This includes acquiring the knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and best practices, as well as gaining practical skills in conducting inspections and tests. Ultimately, this award plays a crucial role in enabling individuals to confidently and effectively assess the safety and performance of low voltage electrical installations. It provides an opportunity to enhance their professional skills and contribute to the overall quality and compliance of electrical systems in various settings.

Qualification pre-requisites:For these qualifications, there are no formal entry requirements specified. However, it is important for centers to ensure that learners have the potential to successfully achieve the qualifications. Learners should possess the minimum levels of literacy and numeracy skills necessary to complete the learning outcomes and assessments.  It is the responsibility of the centers to make learners with specific requirements aware of the content of the qualification and provide them with every opportunity to successfully complete the qualification. This may include making appropriate adjustments or accommodations to support learners with disabilities, while still upholding the required standards. This qualification is delivered through a comprehensive learning process that focuses on the application of knowledge related to the inspection and testing of electrical installations. Each Award consists of one unit that covers the necessary learning outcomes for initial verification and/or periodic inspection and testing of electrical installations. The learning outcomes encompass various aspects, including safe isolation, inspection, safe testing, pre-energized and energized tests, documentation, and the practical use of test equipment. These elements are all essential for conducting thorough inspections and tests on electrical installations. The structure of each qualification is outlined in Section 3, which provides a clear breakdown of the topics covered and the order in which they are presented. This ensures a systematic and organized approach to learning the necessary content. For the examinations associated with these qualifications, it is worth noting that they are open book.
